December 2020: The Value of Giving
This is the time of year when many of us reflect on how the year changed and affected us and look forward to the next year with bright hope and plans. Certainly a different experience today – not sure how to evaluate the many changes in our 2020 daily life and what to expect in days ahead for 2021.
However, it is with gratitude that the CCVF Board can report that, despite the many obstacles faced in carrying out our programming during a pandemic, what didn’t change was the generosity of our donors. We will be awarding over $65,000 within the next month to Camp V, Tyler, Fisher House – Dallas, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, and the Payne Springs Volunteer Fire Departments – a new high for our organization.
In a recent story, Kathryn Hepburn shared an early childhood lesson:
“If you want to be large, larger than life, learn to Give. Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get – only with what you are expecting to give – which is everything. The importance of giving, blessing others can never be overemphasized because there’s always joy in giving. Learn to make someone happy by acts of giving.”
We thank all of our givers and look forward to continuing our mission in 2021 – larger than life – honoring and supporting our local East Texas veterans!
